A cat's tale

Saki growing up
There have been many generations of cats that enslaved us. It all started a few years ago with a cat named Maxim Gorky (that resembles the kitten[Saki] from the picture above). A big, white, Persian seeming, hungry and a rather friendly stray cat that was followed by Smith,Ivan,Double-Sound and Scotch. What follows is barely a theory that I postulated.

Rasia and little Saki

A new-found territory, lots of cream, cushions to sleep on, ah! the life. Double-sound was a fat old unfriendly tom-cat, Garfield looking but not as cute(no, not even close :/). Everytime he mewed , one could hear an undertone, another mew, therefore the name. He was THE cat of the locality. Probably survived many dog attacks, territorial ambushes and therefore was more or less the don of the area. He had gorgeous cats like Gorky, Ivan and a little kitten Scotch at his disposal.
Mission one of his master plan-To  get his women to befriend the humans.
Mission two- Let them be fed and as a commission, a quarter or sometimes half of their luxury(the food).
Mission three- Thus, reasserting his territory.
The cats invariably left a portion of their food for Double-sound to finish but he never allowed anyone close to him, not that I wanted to befriend this sly cat but psshht...it was quite upsetting to be intimidated by a CAT, with power.

Saki with her kittens
It was a good life for them all until dogs(stray) started to rip them apart one after another. Although i thought they were being kidnapped and sold by my neighbours and in reaction to which I left them a nasty letter, well, that's a whole other story.
Soon, it was reduced to Smith(scrawny happy cat that needed his daily dose of continuous loving and ooh..a smart cat who always came jumping compounds hearing my whistle)  Ivan(Smiths darling beautiful sister, occasionally lived with us ) and Double Sound( who only rarely came to feast). Things did not go well there. Smith who was rather young back then attacked Double Sound, disapproving his indulgence with his sister. Poor old cat couldn't battle the mighty one. And Ivan, stuck between her brother and her lover. Oh the plight of a cat!  She tried to stand up for herself against the will of her brother and tried to take control over Double-Sound as well(spotted slapping him while he tried to steal her food..oh ya! girl power)
The outraged Double sound soon arranged for a battle between him and Smith(a one year old). Humans weren't invited. Verdict: Smith was driven out of Double sounds territory. Ivan had 4 kittens with Double Sound. Smith didn't live long after that anyway, was either catnapped or fell prey to the stray.
Ivan died saving one of her kittens. Her kittens survived another year before the dogs took complete control.
Today, approximately 10 years later, I wouldn't be surprised if Double-Sound can still be spotted in that area. Must visit sometime.
